History

EXPOSURE, INC./Q.U.E.E.N.S Mentoring Global (QMG) started as a vision to gather young women in East Durham, NC and teach them character development skills. The vision was inspired by "Black Girls Rock!" 

Black Girls Rock! broadcasts the celebration of African American women giving back to their communities and shaping the next generation of young girls. During the viewing of the celebration, Coach Cortney could not help but think of ways to get involved in the community she lived in at the time- East Durham, North Carolina. Cortney immediately began brainstorming ways to give back to the young women in her community. After months of brainstorming and bouncing ideas off trusted friends and mentoring experts, Cortney landed with the idea of Q.U.E.E.N.S Mentoring Global. QUEENS is an acronym for quality, unity, education, exposure, networking, and service.

Our motto is: Changing the world by creating QUEENS, one girl at a time!

The 'global'/world aspect of Q.U.E.E.N.S Mentoring Global has a fourfold meaning:

1. World references how the young woman makes meaning of herself, people, places and things around her, and how meaning-making impacts her worldview and daily decisions.

2. World is referred to the people and places that a young woman will encounter throughout her life. She will go places and meet people she will impact and be impacted by. She will instill the principles she was taught at QMG into the lives of those she will interact with. We envision a cycle of women paying it forward by positively impacting women through mentoring.

3. World is referred to society as a whole. One day, she will positively contribute to society as a leader and citizen. Helping to develop young women to be active participants in the larger society is important to our mission.

4. World refers to the expansion of the vision and mission of QMG. We hope to consult and partner with other individuals and organizations to expand our services across seas and increase our capacity to positively influence the world!

With 19 years of mentoring experience, Coach Cortney is passionate about helping others find their passion and discover ways to monetize their gifts and talents. QMG believes that helping youth discover their strengths so they can be self-sufficient, is what sets QMG apart. If a young person is gifted in the arts, sciences, cosmetology, photography, social media, etc.- how can EXPOSURE, INC./QMG help sharpen their strengths so they can make money doing what they are gifted at?
